Twitter bits

Apr 02

For all the other Twitter addicts out there, I have a few notes about my favorite Twitter apps and tools. Just a couple.

First off, I am NOT a fan of Power Twitter. I am a Firefox user, so of course I gave it a good long test drive, and it annoyed me more than anything else. It make the Twitter home page take longer than normal, but not the entire page, so I would click on something, then the page would finish loading and of course I had actually clicked on something else. Annoying.

deckOk, my two favorites. First, not a new tool, but definitely my favorite. Can’t live without TweetDeck. If you’re following more than 5 folks, you gotta get it.

With TweetDeck I can quickly sort and view tweets, replies, DMs, searches and more.  It’s an Adobe Air app, and the way I use it, it’s a good thing I have a second monitor.  It’s very robust, and it keeps all 90 bazillion tweets very well organized and easy to read and follow.

Now for a new one.  I got to test drive this thing a week ago, but Tweepular just went live for the general masses yesterday. They must be masochists, launching on April Fool’s Day, but hey, whatever floats their boats.  It’s not for following tweets and tweeting, like TweetDeck, instead it’s for organizing and following, well, followers.  It’s really designed to help boost your tweepularity, if you’re into that, but I like it because it’s a quick and easy way to check who’s following me.  I’m sick to death of finding out that the new Twitter spammer du jour is following me and I wasted time clicking on their name to find that out.  With Tweepular I can just hover over names and get all their info in one quick glance.  It will also allow me to follow/unfollow and do both in bulk.  Very handy.

dancingThey’ve also managed to capture the whole bird/tweet theme associated with Twitter.  All the way down to the moonwalking bird that I enjoy.

Now I’m not going to get in the habit of rambling on about new twitter apps, mostly because I don’t have the time. But I had to blog about these two, because without them Twittering would suck as much as my husband thinks it does.

Thank you so much for the feedback on Tweepular. You put a lot of time into it and I’m happy you like it!

    Jason.

Thanks for making it, and making Twittering suck less.
